Paul Review

By Peter Allen On March 18, 2011 the movie Paul was released. Let me say that when Paul was first announced, I was a bit disappointed that it would not be the last of the Edgar Wright comedies. However, I was not going to let that disappointment ruin the day. I noticed that it did have Simon Pegg and Nick Frost from Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz (my two favorite films.) I also did a bit more research back in December and found out that the Actor Seth Rogan would be the voice of the alien, Paul. This got me really excited and made me want to see the movie immediately. Now for anyone who knows anything on science fiction, if you see this movie you will see some similarities from other nerdy films. This is exactly what the writers wanted. The writers (Simon Pegg and Nick Frost) wanted this to be as they called it a love letter to Spielberg. Like their last two films, they wanted to show all the amazing science fiction movies from the past fifty years. The story is pretty much two British nerds go to Comic Con in the U.S. After the convention, they decide to go on a road trip to America’s top UFO hotspots. However, near area 51, they come into contact with Paul, an alien who had escaped Area 51 and who is voiced by Seth Rogan. Now, they must help Paul escape from the government and get him back home. Anyone who has seen the classic movie, ET will defiantly realize that these films are a lot alike. In fact, a lot of people call this movie ET for adults. I loved the story, throughout the movie, they have smart puns making fun of movies like Star Wars, Star Trek and other classic. In fact, there is one scene when they get into a bar fight and you should listen to the music in the background. I was actually pissing my pants from laughter. Also, the famous Kristin Wigg from SNL (Saturday Night Live) makes an appearance, and plays the overly religious nut. Grahm sort of fancies her and it is really funny to see this progress through the movie. There are also other actors, like Jason Bateman who plays the FBI agent and also, the famous Sigourney Weaver. These actors all play there roles perfect and get the lines out at just the right time. However, that does not mean that this movie has no problems with it. I have seen movies like Star Wars and Star Trek. So I did get a lot of the jokes. However, I think that there was a bit to much of making fun of other movies. I’m sorry for the pun but I think a lot of the jokes will alienate the audience. This movie never really does become its own film and I was a bit sad about that. There were a lots of laughs in this movie, but I think that they were expecting for the audience to have seen all of these films in the past. I wish that they had added there own humor in this film. However, I am glad that Simon Pegg and Nick Frost did add their own friendship in life into this movie. I did like this, because they are nerds in laugh. This is no lie, they go to Comic Con every year. However, at the beginning, they show a bit of a bromance and I wanted them to add to this through out the movie, but after Paul showed up, they sort of stopped this. I also hated the rating for this movie. I was so shocked when they announced that it would be rated R. It is just a lot of teenage humor that fourteen year olds love. And as I knew it would be, it was only rated R for the swear words. So Paul is not a horrible movie. It is far from it. It has some hilarious jokes and all the actors were awesome. Is it as good as Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz, no. It is not that smart as Hot Fuzz, and not enough action as Shaun of the Dead. But all in all, this is defiantly a movie for science geeks which is why I will give it 3 stars out of 4.

Looney Tunes Gone Wild

By Peter Allen and Austin Stiles

Everyone knows of the famous Looney Tunes. Almost everyone alive have grown up with Bugs, Daffy, Taz and all the others. However, it seems that the famous characters have had enough. They have all gone down hill after the show ended.
Willie Coyote has been trying and failing to get that Road Runner for as long as we can remember. Now, as we all know, he just ended up getting hit by a cannon or falling off a cliff. Well, it seems that the coyote wised up a bit. After his 2,985th failed attempt on getting dinner, he decided that he was done with ACME. He has sued the company for 100,000 dollars. The court meeting will take place next week.

And do not get me started on Daffy. Do you remember that episode when Bugs was drawing Daffy and Daffy became a walking flower? Well we got a personal interview with a producer of the show who said “On that episode, Daffy came to me with that idea. I liked the idea; however I thought he was hallucinating a bit.” Then, we found that recent reports had came in that Daffy was tested for drugs. We are not revealing the results at this time. However, I think we can all say WTF!!
And now that the show has ended, the fastest creature in Looney Tunes, Road Runner has gotten a deal with Nike. This thing will now promote new sneakers that will soon be available to the public. However, he has recently been accused of using 4 Lokos energy drink to make him have the speed he has had for so many years.

On other news, Tweety Bird has just announced that she is suing Twitter for stealing the idea of Tweeter. Tweety has since made claims that the head of Twitter has stolen her ideas at a meeting for the idea. Tweety, than claimed that after that conference that they never spoke again until the invention of twitter. Tweety is currently suing Twitter for 5 million dollars.

Marvin is next. Recently, a law was passed that all illegal aliens were to be deported to where they came from. To bad for Marvin though because he forgot his green card. He was deported to the moon immediately. Even though his name includes the word Martian. After being deported we flew up to the moon to ask him a few questions. After questioning with the Martian, we discovered that he is indeed not an actual alien. It was just a roll he played on the Loony Tunes. For now he is stuck alone on the moon. We plan to get food to him next year.
And everyone knows the infamous Taz. We received news that he was recently captured and studied on for makeup products. We went to speak to Taz, who was wearing lipstick and eye shadow. When we arrived, he was on a rampage and trying to escape. Many of our camera crew was killed and even more are on their death bed in the hospital.

Matt Damon Movie Hereafter Canceled in Japan

By Peter Allen

Everyone is devastated by the giant earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The damage is amazing. Many people are missing and thousands are dead. Japan is still getting hit with mini tsunamis and aftershocks reaching 6.0! Even the movie industries are affected. Apparently, when Japan gets hit with a giant wave, they do not want to watch a movie about a tsunami. The new movie with Matt Damon was canceled in Japan. Not because it was bad. It was actually very good. The acting was strong and it was a good story. It was because it was about a tsunami. The Japanese are done with big waves. They do not want to watch this movie. No one came to see it. The producers and actors both agreed after this tragedy that they will not show this movie at all in Japan. Thank god people actually have feelings.

Assasins Creed Brotherhood DLC Review

By Peter Allen

On March 8, 2011, Ubisoft released a new dlc for assassin’s creed called the davinci disappearance. In this extra content, there is more story mode, there are also 4 more multiplayer characters there are 2 more game types and a new map. In the last dlc, for the second game, there was one hour of game play let me say boring. But in this there is so much to do.
First is the single player. As you can guess, this is a about Leonardo Davinci. He gets kidnapped and it is up to you to save him. This single player has about four hours of gameplay. It is so fun to try not to get caught and kill guards from rooftops.
The multiplayer is amazing. It was already good but now it is amazing. There are four new characters including a fat knight. And now they kill in all new ways. My favorite is now one guy has a gun. It is so fun to shoot someone in the head. Also, if you did not pre order the game and get the court jester, you can now get it. There is also some new plat forming sequences as well. This is a true dlc.

Assassin's Creed Multiplayer Review

Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood Multiplayer Review

By Peter Allen

Assassins Creed is Ubisofts greatest series. First released in 2005, Assassins Creed had mixed reactions. Then, in 2009, they released AC2 which was a complete hit. Now, ACB has come out with an odd option… Multiplayer.
When I first heard that Assassins Creed Brotherhood would have multiplayer, I thought it was very stupid. I mean there is not really much you can do. But boy was I wrong. When I got the game the multiplayer was full of all players. I first tried out the prowler, as he was the one I was most interested in. I was so stunned with all the ways I could kill people. It was nothing like Call of Duty in which you kill people the same way all the time. However, what I really enjoyed was that just because you got the most kills, would not mean that you won. Since it is an assassin’s game, it is on how you kill them. For example, if you just ran up and had to chase your target to kill him, you would get 100 points. However, if you kill them silently, like from a hay stake or from jumping down from a roof, you could get up to 800 points!! Right now, there are two game types. Wanted, where you are assigned a target to kill, while someone else is assigned to kill you. There is also Manhunt, where there are two sides, while for half the game, one side must escape the other and the other side tries to kill the,. Then, it switches. It is so fun to kill your friend and to escape from up to 4 people at once. There are a lot of characters to. Like the doctor, executioner, courtesan and blacksmith. And the company will add more as time goes on. This could keep a man satisfied for hours.
